Now I feel old. The Rubik’s cube is turning 30 this year. I remember when this little puzzle (and all of its offspring) were wandering the halls of my schools, being a distraction for many students and a pain for many teachers. Plus the awe that came with solving 3 or 4 sides, let alone all six. Of course, I did, several times…by taking it apart (okay, so it was a minor cheat).

Now, there is a website that parents, teachers, and students can refer to learn how to solve the cube. It includes step-by-step guides, lesson plans, kits, etc. So go see if you can do the cube at www.youcandothecube.com. And, just to motivate you, above is a video of someone solving it in 18.41 seconds.  Of course, if you get frustrated, there’s always the tried and true hammer solution…
