I am VERY excited to say that will be hosting Dan Phillips at the Children’s Museum of Houston this Saturday (Feb 6, 2010) from 1-3pm as a part of the kickoff for our new “Building Brainstorm” exhibit. Dan is well known for using reclaimed materials to create low-cost housing. His group, the Phoenix Commotion, is dedicated “to prove that constructing homes with recycled and salvaged materials has viable place in the building industry.” In the creation of the homes, he uses sound engineering and science to ensure the houses are safe, and an artistic eye to make them truly fascinating edifices. As Dan put it, “You can’t defy the laws of physics or building codes, but beyond that, the possibilities are endless.” Check out a great article in the New York Times on Dan Phillips here.
